Four Split Cards with Double Dry Emboss Technique for Colour INKspiration #91

Hi there and welcome to AddINKtive Designs. The latest Colour INKspiration Challenge runs for an extended time over the holiday season, so I decided to revisit the vibrant colour combo to make a set of cards.

CI#91 – Take 2

I’ve been waiting for my pre-order from Stampin’ Up! ® to arrive; I think Australia Post has it in ‘quarantine’ – the tracking info keeps changing and I’m going a bit stir crazy wondering when it will eventually turn up – it’s been 11 days since it shipped!

So to help pass the time, I decided to watch a couple of really good technique videos by the talented, Tina Zinck from Canada. I was totally inspired to go out into my craft room and try out the Serene Stamper’s  FOUR SPLIT CARDS TECHNIQUE and DOUBLE DRY EMBOSS TECHNIQUE. I decided to combine both ideas, use the bright and cheery colour combo, the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set, coordinating Nature’s Thoughts Dies, the Pinewood Planks 3D and Meadow Moments Embossing Folders to make these four cards –

The two techniques were very easy to do. The first one is kind of like a One Sheet Wonder but a bit different as you are stamping using the Mathematical principles of ‘Rotational Symmetry’.

You will need to go and watch both videos but keep in mind that if you’re using A4 card stock, you may want to use these Metric Measurements –

  • Using a Paper Trimmer, take a piece of Whisper White/Basic White A4 Card Stock and trim 1cm off the width and length.
  • Make vertical and horizontal score lines (half way) at the 10cm and 14.4cm marks.

  •  Stamp the maiden hair fern and flower stamps with Granny Apple Green and Magenta Madness, stamping off the fern for a lighter second image in each bunch –

  • Cut each piece along the score lines to form 4 separate card mats.
  • Stamp the sentiments on each one with Pretty Peacock Ink.

  • Double Dry Emboss each piece using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder first, followed by the Meadow Moments (leafy) Embossing Folder.

  • Stick on other die-cut images with Stampin’ Dimensionals or glue.

  • Attach the butterfly with a glue dot, paint the wings with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and stick on three small Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Plus a teeny bit of Gold Foil Sheets

  • Stick on some Champagne Rhinestones to the card front and embellish each one a little differently.
  • Glue the finished card mats onto the front of the Pretty Peacock Card Bases. Glue a Whisper White card mat to the inside of each card.
