Colour INKspiration #37

Welcome to addinktive designs and a brand new Colour INKspiration Challenge and CI Crew Blog Hop. You can find Colour INKspiration Challenges on Facebook and there are two challenges every month. Join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month for a brand new colour palette. #CI37 will run until 7pm (AEST – Melbourne Time), Monday 23rd July.

Stampin’ Up! ® has just had a major colour revamp so at Colour INKspiration we’ve decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit. This month we are featuring the BRIGHTS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project.  We have also changed the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the BasicsWhisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics.

I have been experimenting with making Scented Cards for my stamp classes this week and decided to make one with a mixture of bright colours for CI37 –

The idea for scented embossing paste came from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek (Song of My Heart Stampers). She suggests mixing 2 drops of essential oils into 1 tablespoon of embossing paste and claims the scent can last up to a week on the card. I popped this card in the post the day after I made it, so here’s hoping the recipient will get a few days worth of Wild Orange Scent. It sure smelled terrific as I was assembling the card on Sunday afternoon.

To begin with I thought I would try applying some embossing paste to the inside of the floral embossing folder from Petal Pair but I hadn’t used it for quite a while and the paste had gone quite ‘rubbery’.  Despite that little ‘hiccup’ I think the Mango Melody embossed panel turned out okay. I didn’t use the oils in that mix.

For the Granny Apple Green section, I mixed a small amount of Shimmery White Embossing Paste with two drops of doTERRA Wild Orange and used a Palette Knife to apply the paste through the ‘diamond’ mask from Pattern Party Decorative Masks. Oh my gosh! It smelt amazing!!!

The white decorative border between the coloured panels is made from an edgelit die from the Bouncing Baby Framelits and the oranges, leaves and sentiment are from Lemon Zest.

The Colour INKspiration Challenge requires you to CHOOSE 3 colours from the BRIGHTS COLLECTION this week and I chose Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight

I had fun experimenting with scented embossing paste and will share the two cards that I designed for stamp class with you next week.

Make sure you continue on to check out the projects from the other members of the Colour INKspiration Crew. Up next on the hop is Rachel Palmieri  with some bright ‘pretty petal’ inspiration –

Even though the Crew are from the South Pacific Region, the challenge is an international one; so if you love all things Stampin’ Up! ®, please feel free to join in.  You don’t need a blog to enter. Click on the badge below to take you to our Facebook page –
