Best Dressed Extended Double Z-Fold Box Card Tutorial

Hello and welcome to my blog. I have a fun card fold to share with you today. It’s an original design and I’ve called it an Extended Double Z-Fold Box Card.  I made this fold by ‘accident’ when preparing a card base for my March Tutorial Project for The Dimensionals and have reversed the score lines for today’s project so the extended section is at the front of the card.

You’ll probably need to look away if you don’t like ‘fussy cutting’ because this card has a LOT of it! It’s a great project to make to help pass the time away in iso, lock down, sheltering in place, quarantine or whatever you want to call it while the Covid 19, Corona Virus Pandemic is wreaking global havoc. I happily spent a couple of hours in my craft room yesterday fussy cutting the handbag and shoe images from the DSP; it was actually quite therapeutic. I got ‘lost’ in creating a little shop scene and thinking of how appropriate this Mother’s Day card is for my mum as she has a very substantial collection of shoes and handbags! … and how ironic it is that my current footwear consists of slippers or thongs (flip flops) for around the house and sandshoes (sneakers) when we venture out for a walk. I’m really looking forward to the day when I can slide on my long boots (my favourite footwear) to go out to the shops and cafes, to visit family and friends, to go to church or to the cinema and to all those other places I used to take for granted.

Sigh!  … well back to the card –

Apart from the one die-cut I used for the Happy Mother’s Day Sentiment, the rest of the images were fussy cut from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper using my trusty Paper Snips. It took a lot longer to decide on where the images would be placed than the fussy cutting itself. I do love the finished result but would probably opt for a plainer background next time.

I’m pretty certain I’ll be revisiting this card fold often as it’s my current favourite. If you’d like to make one too, you can find the directions in my tutorial which can be purchased through the link below –
