Welcome to our third Funky Folds Blog Hop.
We are a group of like minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means “modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way”… so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think ‘easel’, ‘pop-up’, ‘gatefold’, ‘z-fold’, ‘shaped’ or 3D cards etc. The list is endless.
All Blog Hops have an ‘anything goes’ theme using any type of ‘funky’ card fold and I’ve made a Tri-Fold Accordion Card featuring the beautiful, Mintay Papers and Paper Die-Cuts from the Sunset Beach Collection.
To achieve this look you’ll need three sheets of 6×6 that are the same for the main panels on this card and one coordinating sheet for the two inside panels and a few paper die-cuts of choice. I chose to use the measurements from a video tutorial by Ximena Morales and have written them here for easy reference –
Cut a piece of Basic White from 12×12 Cardstock that measures (H) 14.85cm x (W) 30cm. Score along the width at the 10.5cm (valley fold), 18cm (mountain fold) and 25.5cm (valley fold) marks. Rotate the card 180 degrees so the narrow panel is on the left-hand side. Optional: Glue the two middle panels together (C & D – on mountain fold).
Starting from the bottom left-hand corner of each piece of patterned paper (that has the same ‘pattern’) and keeping continuity of the scene, cut out three pieces for the main panels, A, C and E that measure, (H) 14.3cm x (W) 4cm, (H) 14.3cm x (W) 7cm and (H) 14.3cm x (W) 10cm.
From the coordinating patterned paper, cut out two pieces for in the inside panels, B and D that measure, (H) 14.3cm x (W) 4cm and (H) 14.3cm x (W) 7cm.
(See a link at the end of this post for US [inches] measurements)
Have fun adding lots of paper die-cuts to each layer –
I’d love to hear from you if I’ve inspired you to give this card fold a try!

Here are three other fun folds that I made with similar measurements and score lines if you’re interested in trying them out (the mountain fold panels are not glued together in these examples) –

this is a very versatile fold – and I love that you;ve shared your other samples in this fold in this week’s colour INKspiration challenge. I always love seeing the different effect that different papers can have with the same design. INspirational! thankyou
