Hi there. Welcome to my blog. About seven years ago I was entirely obsessed with easel cards, particularly butterfly and circle ones. Well, I still love making 3D cards and am always looking at my Stampin’ Up! dies to create fun folds.
Today I am sharing a tutorial on how to make a very simple Hexagon Easel Card using the Window Box Thinlits Dies which I’m happy to say are carrying over into the new catalogue in June.
Some of the products are not available until the release of the new annual, Stampin’ Up! Catalogue in June. Until then, alternative stamps and DSP can be used in your project. As long as you have the Window Box Thinlits Dies, you’re set to go!
Mini Tutorial – Hexagon Easel Card
1. Cut three hexagon shapes from Very Vanilla Card Stock using the Window Box Dies. Cut off the side tabs on two of them and all cut off all the tabs on the third piece.
2. Score one hexagon horizontally through the middle.
3. Glue the top tabs together to form the base of the card.
4. The top section forms the easel base.
5. Die cut the floral design from the Window Box Dies using the third hexagonal piece.
6. Using the Berry Burst Ombre DSP from the Color Theory DSP Stack, cut another hexagon and cut off all the tabs.
7. Glue to the back of the VV piece.
8. Glue the lower half of the patterned hexagon onto the lower half of the folded down easel section.
10. Cut another hexagon from Berry Burst Card Stock. Cut the tabs off and trim in a little on all the edges. Stamp the floral and sentiment from Wood Words and add a Glitter Enamel Dot to prop the easel part against.
11. Die cut a butterfly from a scrap of DSP, add two Glitter Enamel Dots and attach to the front of the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
