March Funky Folds Blog Hop and Colour INKspiration Challenge 182

Welcome to our first Funky Folds Blog Hop for 2025!

We are a group of like minded paper crafters who love to make projects with funky folds. Funky actually means “modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way”… so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think ‘easel’, ‘pop-up’, ‘gatefold’, ‘z-fold’, ‘shaped’ or 3D cards etc. The list is endless … and it now includes journals, albums etc.

All Blog Hops have an ‘anything goes’ theme using any type of ‘funky’ fold and today I’m sharing a Butterfly Carousel Box Card made with the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle and Hybrid Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up! ®. With this ‘version’, I’ve added the 3D butterflies to the front of a card base with an embossed front panel.

The individual butterflies (front and back) have also been embossed with the Hybrid Embossing Folder from the Bokeh Suite Collection.

The butterfly at the back was glued onto the card base so an extra embossed layer and intricate die-cut butterfly were not added to that one. Die-cut ‘leaves’ from the Painted Lavender Dies, along with a small die-cut butterfly were attached to the box card section.

The colours were chosen to fit in with the latest challenge at Colour INKspiration – #182. I haven’t played along since I left the Design Team almost a year ago and was feeling a little nostalgic.

This ‘pop-up’ butterfly feature could have gone on the inside of the card but I wanted to see how it would look on a card front. Fortunately, it sits well and doesn’t topple over and there’s plenty of room inside to write a message to the recipient.

It will fit inside a C6 envelope but is a little too wide for a USA sized one so you might need to make a custom envelope.
