The Stamp Review Crew – Tasteful Touches

Hi and welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop. The SRC are a group of International Stampin’ Up! ® Demonstrators who love to show you different ways to use your stamps. Today we are featuring the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set. You may have hopped over from my lovely friend, Nikki’s blog or landed here from my ‘socials’, either way, welcome.

I’ve had this stamp set in my stash for quite some time and had only inked up one of the sentiments. The images and sentiments are gorgeous but I really didn’t know where to ‘go’ with it. The images called for a ‘collage’ look with some simple stamping and it didn’t seem to fit into my 3D style. This hop was a good excuse to explore some of the possibilities and I went looking for some inspiration starting with the Annual Catalogue.

In the catalogue, the ‘brick’ imagery from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper had been stamped with the leafy image on either side of a banner and wrapped around a gift box. The concept artists from SU gave me a ‘springboard’ for my first project. I’ve been on a bit of a roll lately combining the brick patterned DSP and the Welcoming Window Bundle to create a couple of 3D cards and decided to continue with that theme using different elements of the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set to make another ‘window’ card.

I stamped the leafy image directly onto the walls on either side of the window with Mossy Meadow Ink as well as fussy cut some leaves for a pot plant that sits on the window box. The pots were all stamped with the tiny ornate patterned stamp from Tasteful Touches using Terracotta Tile Ink and the ‘curtains’ (drapes) with the cute and funky squares images using Seaside Spray.

Bridge Fold Card

On the back of the card it was easy to incorporate some of the larger images and sentiment from the set.

I really enjoyed using these stamps to fit with my style of card making and now they seem a lot less ‘intimidating’.

Today’s project is actually a Bridge Fold Card modelled on one that I made about a week ago. The link to that tutorial is at the end of this post. I did tweak this latest version by using a different fence on this one and there isn’t a back window or box inserts inside.

Instead, there’s room inside for a battery operated tea light which makes for a fun night time display.

Peony Dies

$70.00

My second project features the second largest butterfly from the new Brilliant Wings Dies.

Butterfly Easel Card

I did some collage stamping using a variety of inks and images from Tasteful Touches on the base and first layer of this butterfly easel card. The top layer has the more intricate die, cut from Vellum Card Stock and was coloured with a Dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend. It’s tiny and easily fits inside a 3″x3″ envelope.

My next blog post (which will be published 8 pm AEDT tonight) features the Butterfly Brilliance Collection and some more info about my butterfly easel designs, so be sure to come back for that one.

    1. Thanks so much. I think I love making these window cards because I really wanted to own a doll house when I was a child and made one once out of a cardboard box! 😁 True story.
