Hi and welcome to my blog. Today I’m sharing some cards I made for our Tasmanian Premier, Peter Gutwein and Health Minister, Sarah Courtney. First of all I’ll explain WHAT products I used before I get to the ‘WHY’.
Our Floral Emblem is the Tasmanian Blue Gum so I went with that theme to create two Planter Box Cards.
I pulled out my 12X12 Australiana Papers from Kaisercraft and chose the gorgeous Eucalyptus bark for the backgrounds and corrugated tin for the planter boxes. The beautiful Gum Leaves, 1 & 3 Metal Dies are from Paper Rose. Both sentiment stamp sets are from Stampin’ Up! ® – Label Me Bold (retired) and Massive Thanks.
… And now for the WHY!
On Sunday my local church hosted a service to personally thank our Premier and Health Minister for the amazing job they have been doing in handling the COVID19 crisis and putting the safety of Tasmanians first in regards to their policy making decisions. We are experiencing a COVID free existence at the moment but of course there are still social distancing rules in place and common sense hygiene practices are being maintained until this global pandemic threat eases. We are keeping vigilant during this time and using the fact that we are an island state to our advantage; “We have a moat and we’re not afraid to use it” (Mercury Newspaper). It would be terribly sad to experience a second wave here in Tasmania and go back to lockdown and all the subsequent restrictions.
During the church service many church leaders around Tasmania sent thank you messages via video and our pastor preached an amazing sermon. If you’re a history buff you’ll really appreciate what he had to say; so if you’ve got a couple of spare hours, you can check out the entire service by clicking on the You Tube link below –
My cards accompanied the gifts our Pastor presented. It truly was an honour to be able to contribute in some small way in thanking our Tasmanian Premier and Health Minister.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
Bronwyn,
Thank you for the inspiration that you sent in this blog post. Living in the US right now is very dark and sad. Aside from the pandemic issues, everyone here seems to be angry about something. It is so nice to hear of a place on this planet where people are happy and appreciative for the care their leadership is giving them.
If I have time, I will listen to the inspirational video you sent. I need inspiration.
I have followed you for years and have purchased some of your tutorials. I love, love, love to work you do. Thank you.
Maureen
Thanks so much Maureen for your thoughts. Life outside our Tassie bubble is pretty grim for so many people. I’m very grateful for where we live right now.
Gorgeous!
It is wonderful that Tassie is virus free – a great time to be a Tasmanian not such a great time to be a Melbournian!
Thanks, Vicki. We now have another case but it’s just a matter of putting out the spot fires to prevent a bushfire!
Since I commented I have seen the whole post here and the other card. They are both amazing and what an honour for them to be presented to these officials. Thanks for sharing the inspiration.
Thanks so much Annette.
Bronwyn, your cards are beautiful, and a very clever idea to use The Tasmanian Blue Gum. What an amazing honor to be asked to make handmade cards to the Premier and Health Minister! But no surprise really because your cards are always fabulous.
It’s so nice to hear about something positive regarding our current world wide situation and to know that at least a part of our beautiful country is going so well at the moment.
I hope it continues that way for you all. Hugs, Sharni Haines, South Australia. X
Thanks, lovely xx.
