The Stamp Review Crew – Rooted in Nature

Welcome to addINKtive designs and the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop featuring the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set. The SRC are a group of International Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators who love to show you lots of creative ways to use your stamps.

My stamp set hadn’t seen much ink until this week and I really enjoyed discovering some fun ways to use the images, dies and embossing pieces.

I ended up making a Stitched Circle Easel Card, a Scented Card and an Owl Pocket Card. Here’s a close up of each one –

1. Stitched Circle Easel Card

An easel card was constructed using the two largest circle dies from the Stitched Shapes Framelits, images from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and the bird tag die from the Botanical Tags Thinlits.

2. Douglas Fir Scented Card

A few weeks ago I made some scented cards with doTERRA Wild Orange, Lime and Lemon Essential Oils in Embossing Paste with the Lemon Zest Stamps and my creative friend, Lou, came up with the idea of mixing the oils with Clear Wink of Stella. It worked a treat so I thought I’d give it a go and use a ‘woodland’ scent for Rooted in Nature.

I mixed a drop of Douglas Fir Essential Oils with some Clear Wink of Stella on an acrylic  block and brushed the mixture over the tree ring stamp. My craft room smelt AMAZING! I had to do a ‘Google’ search to make sure I used images that best represented Douglas Fir Trees before completing the rest of my card.

I used three small embossing dies to make the textured background, sponged Crumb Cake Ink over the top and then distressed the outer edges with my thumbnail.

 

For the last card I tried so hard not to make a Pocket Card but ‘caved’ in the end as I thought the owl would look super cute on a mini one made from the 6×6 Wood Textures DSP. That now brings the grand total of Pocket Cards to 20. I really must try and get over my addiction! LOL.

3. Owl Pocket Card

If I look hard enough, I can usually envisage an owl from the bits ‘n’ pieces in a ‘leafy’ or patterned stamp set and ‘Rooted in Nature’ did not disappoint. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’m quite over my obsession with owls either!

I wasn’t sure about the eyes. Which ones would you prefer?
