Technique Class with Brusho Crystal Colour

Hi there. Welcome to addINKtive designs. Today I’m sharing the three cards we made on Thursday night at my first Technique Class for 2018. We experimented with Brusho Crystal Colour – watercolour ink crystals that mix with water to make watercolour washes and designs.

They are so much fun to play with and there are a multitude of techniques you can try with this fun, new product from Stampin’ Up! ®. In preparation for class, I spent an evening going through You Tube Videos and browsing Pinterest before settling on these three designs and techniques.

1. Blending Brusho with an Aqua Painter

This first card will look familiar to demonstrators as it features in a company video and in our Stampin’ Success Magazine. A watercolour wash was applied to Shimmery White Card Stock with an Aqua Painter. Brilliant Red Brusho was sprinkled over the water washed paper to provide a burst of colour and then parts of the colour wash were blended with an Aqua Painter.

We used a standard sized card instead of the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards and Envelopes that were featured in the video. It gave us some more room to add a few more stamped images to the the card base.

… And isn’t that sentiment the BEST! I just love all the stamps in Birthday Wit.

2. Spritzing and Colouring with Brusho

The second card design was CASED from  Stesha Bloodhart a talented Stampin’ Up! ® Demonstrator from River Falls, Wisconsin, USA. Her card featured the new stamp set, Southern Serenade, but because I don’t have that one in my stash, I used Touches of Textures instead. The sentiment and die are from the Petal Palette Bundle.

Gamboge and Yellow Brusho were sprinkled onto the dry Shimmery White Card Stock and lightly spritzed with water to form a bright, bold background.

The flowers were coloured with Gamboge (Orange), Yellow and Moss Green Brusho (the crystals were mixed with water on a paint palette and painted directly to the image with an Aqua Painter).

3. Dry Embossing with Brusho

This last technique was inspired by a fellow Aussie, SU Demonstrator, Linda Dalke. There’s no need for me to explain how this was done as Linda has a fantastic video tutorial you can watch, HERE.

My stamp class ladies seemed to really enjoy playing around with the Brusho Crystal Colour. It was so much fun that I made another card the next day using a different technique with Brusho. You’ll have to pop back on Monday to see that one.

My next stamp class/es will be held on Wednesday, 28th March and we’re having a Card Buffet! Attendees can make up to 7 cards in one night. I’m really looking forward to highlighting some card kits and some of my favourite stamps and punches.
