Better an ‘Oops’ than a ‘What If’

Hi there.  Welcome to my blog.  Today’s post is a little different and a bit out there for me; I’m throwing my hat in the ring for Display Stamper at On Stage in Melbourne this coming November.

Attending Stampin’ Up! events is an absolute priority for me. It is heaps of fun catching up with friends (and making new ones) who are just as crazy about this paper craft ‘business’ as I am, as well as learning stamping techniques and getting a sneak peek at all the new and exciting products.

In the past I’ve presented a total of three Workshop Wows at Tassie Regionals but never been brave enough to put my hand up for On Stage as my projects don’t seem to fit the criteria to be considered. Sigh! Once again I saw the ‘call out’ on our Demo Web Site and decided that this time I’d give it my best shot because …

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will”

Hey, I have just survived a visit from the School Registration Board last week where my school underwent a full audit, so this isn’t half as frightening. LOL. So here goes …

The Brief – “Create or collect your best work and include the following handstamped items: three card fronts (standard card size), one scrapbook page, and two 3D items”.

If you know my style, please stop rolling around the floor laughing … a scrapbook page!! … yikes … and how do I differentiate between 3D and a standard card size?!

Here’s a round up of some of my favourite projects –

3D Items

Climbing Orchid in a Hexagonal Pop-Up Copper Box
A Little Wild Baby Crib

This 3D item is actually a standard sized card so you can understand why the lines are a little blurry between categories for me :).

Cards

Daisy Delight Card in a Box

As you can see, my absolute passion is to make 3D cards and most of them are constructed so they fit inside a standard card size envelope (C6).

It was a difficult decision to include the following project as the Nailed It stamp set is retired but I wanted to show a fun masculine card. It does, however, have a standard card front; plus it features the new beautiful Wood Textures DSP and Wood Crate Framelits Die.

Yay! the next one is legit.  I designed this card  for our first stamp class this year; the theme was ‘Love’ –

Scrapbook Page … What the Heck!

Cough, cough … well … a photo would usually go inside a 3D frame … this project is the most recent and closest representation of a scrapbook page that I have for now. Apologies for some retired products again but the versatile Lift Me Up stamps and dies have carried over into the new catty!

Because I have to be around while Parent Teacher Interviews are on this week and my hubby and I head off on Friday for a weekend away, I thought, what the heck … why stress about trying to come up with a scrapbook page by the deadline and just go with a selection of my favourite projects.

However, I have decided to set myself a challenge this holiday break and attempt my first ever scrapbook page!  Wish me the best 😉

Lastly, did you notice that I didn’t feature any z-fold pop-up, box cards?  I am just going to have to sneak one more sample in and sign out with my all time favourite design –

Thanks for taking a peek at my projects!

  2. I think they’d be crazy not to pick you. Your projects are amazing and gorgeous. The fact that you think outside the box (hee hee) pun intended, shows how versatile SU products can be. You’ve got my vote for certain!

  3. Yay! Just letting you know that I was successful and will be a display stamper for On Stage in Melbourne in November. I’m looking forward to highlighting some fun new products for Stampin’ Up! See you then.
